As I get out in my garden more I see more and more growth. Reminds me of myself this time of year. I'm learning so many new things and meeting a ton of new people. Being back to the 420Nurses definitely helps connect me to some amazing people and businesses. But I always take the time to spend with my plants. I find that being with my plants grounds me to this world. Taking care of something that'll give back to me is truly such a blessing. And it is my favorite thing to see a clone grow into a giant plant. I've been growing outdoor for the last 4 years, and am only getting better and better. I feel like this year is going to be superb as I have had even more experience including indoor and the issues that arise from those. Growing really is about trouble shooting and planning ahead and that can be something you need to pay a lot of attention to as issues can easily overwhelm a crop. I try to grow as sustainably as possible using only organic horticultural oils and natural predators to fight out issues that can arise while growing. We don't have to use harmful pesticides when we can work with nature to take care of our plants.
My dad has been getting out in the garden more with me this year as well and has been filling some of my boxes up with tomatoes. I love baby tomatoes so I definitely am not complaining about his contribution. I have also been growing onions and am so excited for how many I have popping up. Onions have become on of my favorite crops to grow, its nice to have at any moment, its a fairly low maintenance crop and it can be pulled at different stages if need be. I always love having my onions for camping as they are so yummy in a foil boil. My other favorite is Japanese Eggplant as that is the best vegetable to fry in coconut oil and create "fries" out of.
Being in my garden and having organic produce at my disposal is truly amazing. I love going out and grabbing some herbs or picking some onions before dinner. And I love learning new healthy dishes that I can pull ingredients from my garden for.
If you ever get the chance to grow a garden then do! It may be a lot of work but it is most of the most rewarding and educational experiences you can have. And it's a skill you can take anywhere and will help you survive.
