Born in Idaho (BLEHߘ) but sent to Eugene, Oregon in 8th grade to attend National Academy of Artistic Gymnastics, messed up '84 Olympic Trials, but got a scholarship to U of Oregon! So now with introductions outta the way; I'm actually just trying to be thankful for being here, sometimes that's easier said than done for many veterans like myself. Makeup, clothes and jewelry can do wonders and make you feel amazing for a minute, but at the end of the day when you remove it all the realization of traumatic experiences can become devastating. I was stationed in a MASH (Mobile Army Support Hospital) unit and the best way I can describe it is "the TV show MASH was actually the first reality show on the air. People just don't realize it, and believe me it's not funny at all!" I had a college degree from University of Oregon but went through a divorce and didn't feel like an accounting degree would support 2 kids (and I refused to crawl home to mommy) so I joined the Military to obtain a medical career and became a Certified Surgical Tech (that was a cool job! Especially orthopedics). I agreed and signed my name to defend my country, take a bullet & and as medical personnel; do no harm. I won't go into what I did not agree to for now, but my attack did not take place on foreign soil and there is an extreme bias towards that and women in general. I pray for the 11 women officers who just graduated infantry training! I also pray that pushing myself to do this will help me engage with life more and create great friendships and networking opportunities. Maybe even build up some confidence in myself along the way! Cheers, peace and blaze it on up y'all!
