Although I've only been an Intern for one day now, I've been working hard as though I were already one for a few weeks now. I had forgotten that I had even signed up on this site until my husband told me I had a message on the phone from "some 420 Nurses." I checked the week old voicemail and called back, once talking to Summer and the second time to Cha Cha. They were both so full of positive vibes I felt like it was worth the try. I'm already pretty heavily involved in other promotions so adding something new to my plate was not the first thing on my mind but I logged on the website and gave it a look around. It was like a hidey hole of amazing.
I'm sure that I am not the only one who has felt this way and, thankfully, I have a strong background in PR and community relations so I decided to share a little bit of starter knowledge for other future and potential interns to help them stay on a steady moving path, even before their intern kit hits the mailbox.
• Add Businesses: Search the business listings for your favorite places and add them if they don’t exist, don’t forget to follow them and review them. Find magazines and newspapers that advertise for your easiest go at it, then search Facebook and their website if they have one. Add all of the information you can and don’t be afraid to copy and paste, always proofread. Send the company a simple Facebook post or message just letting them know that you have added them to the 420 Nurses business directory and encourage them to check it out by sending them a link.
• Do Your Research: Get to know both the 420 Nurses business structure but the businesses you are planning on approaching. Get to know the businesses through their social networks and stay active on 420 Nurses of course. It seems a little corny at first but all of the ladies here are just as excited to share their knowledge with you as you are to learn it. Go to chapter meetings if possible and of course fan and friend as many people as you can to help grow your network.
• Apply Your Research: I created a little *information packet of the who/what/where/when/why of the 420 Nurses in my own words so that I can fire off any answers with ease and confidence and to show the businesses that I plan on working with that I am highly effective and more than “just a model.” (*There will be a blog with all of the things included in this packet of course!)
• Network, Network, Network: Go out there and show face as much as possible by volunteering, going to events or just hanging out in public in your 420 Nurse gear. It will help you create brand recognition and blend the brand with your own brand. Not only do you have to pitch 420 Nurses but yourself so make sure that your pool is deep.

There are so many things that I have wanted from other organizations that I can only do with 420 Nurses and being able to translate my knowledge from one venture to another was more than I could have asked for. I hope that my tips have helped out someone who may not have known where to start and help hasten your journey to the top. Stay active and stay ahead, just because you're not an intern yet means nothing, no one ever got ahead by sitting on their behind!

Until next time!
