Life is interesting, I have been looking back on just my past year, and in 12 short months so much has changed. I remember January 3, 2014 I hopped on a gray hound to Colorado. I was so ready for the change, when I first got there I had to encounter so many bumps in the road. I lived with my boyfriend at the time, in his mothers basement, I had to find a job and do it fast. In just two weeks I found myself working at Ruby Tuesday, after a month of living with my boyfriends mom we needed to find our own spot. We lived hotel to hotel and unfortunately my paycheck just covered the weeks room rates. We had to get food from homeless shelters, and churches, and some of my co workers were helpful enough to donate some clothes to me. I am from California so there fore I only had California attire. April comes around and we are just barley scraping by, I had opened up a bank account and signed up for direct deposit for a promotion they were having. I figured it would be easier and the 150 promotion they were giving seemed like it would help. Unfortunately my job somehow messed up my direct deposit information and couldn't give me my check for 48 hours. I had to pay the week rent the same day I got paid, they were not going to wait 48 hours. So I got mad pulled out a payday loan, (not the first one I had to take out in just those four months either)some sort of bravery came over me, I felt like everything was going to be alright, and I quit my job. I told him that working there wasn't the reason I came to Colorado in the first place, not long after my boyfriend packed his things and left me in our hotel room. However I was not upset, more like releaved. Another feeling of bravery telling me everything was going to be alright. I had paid for a week in the room and on the last day that I had there I could not afford anymore. Luckily for me, a company, Catch a Fire, who has worked with me and hires me regularly was coming to town for the 420 festivals we were having. He ended up coming in that same day, and that's when everything was alright. I worked for him as his personal assistant and sales rep for 2 weeks and we worked the cup together. I was safe for 2 weeks and I had income and food again. However our time was up he was going to be traveling out of state and I was back on my own to decide what to do. That's when I met Joe from Smell My Finger Lighters (while I was leaving the high times cup) who agreed to help me with a room in exchange for working American Glass Expo for him. Again I was safe for a few days, but when that was over I needed to find something fast. I called Aroura a 420nurse I had met living here the first 4 months. She allowed me to stay on her couch for 2 weeks while I got on my feet. Thankfully a friend I met at the too short after show had a friend with a room for rent. So I moved in with Carlito and help them out with there projects.he is such an awesome roommate. That was the break I needed. I finally had a stable safe place to grow, speaking of grow I have also learned so much on how too Wink. I finally am happy and it may have taken time but since then I have gotten a laptop, a smart phone, a camera, and im working on getting a car. I love how much has changed and I will say, that sense of bravery I got, no doubt in my mind it was my sour patch kid keeping me safe. thank you. Life is beautiful and you have to work threw struggles in order to appreciate the blessings. smile, move forward, stay positive, and always be brave.
