“What has the War on Drugs done in the world?”

This is a big issue because it’s good people losing their jobs, their homes, even their children. It’s not because they hurt anyone but because they chose to use one drug (marijuana) instead of another (oxy, etc.).

It’s clear that war on drugs has not been successful. Not only has it failed but its been counterproductive in that it has generated a criminal culture much like alcohol prohibition did in 1930s.

Dr. Sanja Gupta, the chief medical correspondent for CNN discussed that many marijuana studies are predisposed to finding harm, while ignoring potential positives. The stigma surrounding the topic is a major hindrance and severely limits proper research. He highlighted the case of CHARLOTTE FIGI, a severe epileptic only 5 yrs. Old, whose seizures ceased when she was treated with cannabis.

Charlotte was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome, which resulted in 300 weekly grand mal seizures. Charlotte was given medication and prescribed diets but nothing worked, in fact the medication were having a negative affect. While it was difficult to get two Doctors to sign for the high C-B-D cannabis oil treatment, they were ultimately successful. Now Charlotte has 2-3 minor seizures a month, mostly in her sleep.

But Charlotte’s story isn’t the only one, there is Alex an 11 yr. old suffering from Tuberous Sclerosis that caused his seizure and autism had also tried the treatment and guess what it worked. Alice Cowles, 8 yrs. Old also took cannabis oil and it worked.

Is legalization the answer? Really think about it.

Legalizing and regulating marijuana would ensure people like these children get the best products. Also there are too many positive cases to casually dismiss its benefits.

Terms of positive effects: pain relief, glaucoma, seizures, anxiety, insomnia, a combatant to chemotherapy, side effects, including nausea and loss of appetite, and other aliments.

Economic advantages of legalization of marijuana will save approximately $7.7 BILLION/YEAR for taxpayers for prohibition costs (law enforcement, processing, courts cost etc) Also $1 BILLION would be saved/year from the absence of roughly 45,000 incarcerated citizens currently in jail solely for marijuana related crimes. Finally if taxed in a similar way to alcohol and tobacco marijuana sales could generate up to $6.2 BILLION of revenue/year.

When compared to alcohol and tobacco, marijuana proves to be far less of a risk to individual and social health.

Our drug policies are highly taunted by fears. The reason why some drugs are legal and others are not has nothing to do with science, health or the risk of but everything to do with who uses and is perceived to use certain drugs.

The War on Drugs is largely about kids. It’s about every parent’s desire to put our baby in a bubble and fear that drugs will pierce that bubble.

No matter if its marijuana, alcohol , tobacco or any other drug for that matter our kids can still get their hands on it. It’s up to us as parents to teach are kids about drugs.

LETS END THIS WAR ON MARIJUANA AND LEGALIZE
