Now that I can finally write this without using all caps or swearing a whole bunch..here it goes. Last night while on my way to Seattle for an EDM Wednesday Event, I got caught in some heavy traffic on I-5 (Imagine that) and behind me was a Washington State Patrol. About 2 minutes later he hit the lights and nudged me over to the side in full traffic. I knew I wasn't speeding at 20mph , but I came to find out that the car I am borrowing had tabs that were expired. Upon gazing in at my club night attire, he asked if I had been drinking. I told him no, I rarely drink. He asked if I was stoned.. and said my eyes looked glassy.. I said no, but that I was a MMJ Patient and had medicated earlier on to eat dinner. I showed him my Authorization, and he asked if I had any "pot" on me. I showed him my vape pen, and two rolled joints I had. He then had me do some short field sobriety type tests, and eventually let me go with no infractions.
But not before telling me that if I were caught driving the car without current tabs, I would be ticketed and given a DUI test for THC. He suggested I turn around and go home, as there would be even more police out early morning downtown, and the likely hood of getting stopped again was high. So, after I stopped shaking that's what I did.
First off..I know I got off really easy, as the Washington State Highway Patrol are not known for their kindness. Taking the situation head on with confidence was the key, and I'm sure my outfit (or lack there of) didn't hurt either
But still, I can't get over the fact that I was literally threatened with DUI. which could cause me to lose my MMJ Licence. The alternative for me is not an option, so that really terrifies me. What does having expired tabs have to do with being stoned? If I wasn't showing signs of being "under the influence" why is it even a topic of conversation? FEAR. that's why. With them, it's all about fear. Who are we supposed to turn to when we really need help?
Well.. needless to say, I got the tabs taken care of this morning
