National friendship week begins the first Sunday in August and ends that following Saturday! National Friendship week was started so that we remember to do something nice for our great friends! Much like Thanksgiving, National Friendship week gives us a chance to step back from everyday life and take a look in on how you treat the people we cherish as friends. Where we all found comfort in our teen years rebelling away from the idea of family, friends are the ones we run to for advice, contentment, and even sometimes affection. Family and friends are the biggest bonds we grow to know in our lifetime. There is no need to choose which you value more, as someone who struggled with abandonment at a very young age, I value both. Some of my friends have even gone through the same challenges and struggles I too have faced. Being a friend is a very special thing to be. Friends are those who care about you and whom you care for with no expectations in return. "A friend is someone who gives you total freedom to be yourself." a quote by Jim Morrison ever so relevant. FREEDOM, what an aura to experience. Everyday this week thank a friend of yours who has made you feel free to be yourself. Let this week be a reminder of how important our companions in this road we call life can be.
