Spreading Smiles

Yesterday Lucky Lou, Chris, and I were driving around getting some stuff done, when we passed a house with an elderly couple outside. The lady was sweeping the porch and the man was shoveling his walkway. The man was in a wheelchair so we decided to turn around, park the car and go help. When we got there you could tell the old man had served for his country he was a little stubborn and almost didn't accept our help. We let him know it was free of charge and to please let us takeover. He and the lady agreed to it and went inside to get warm, we finished the porch and sidewalks for them. What only took us 10 minutes with the three of us would have took them an hour and a half. When we were finished the man came out to try and pay us and the lady wanted to give us orange juice. We reassured them it was free and to have a nice day, we didn't take the oj because we had to get back to our day. It felt good to help them out, it was a cold day yesterday and they shouldn't have been out themselves doing it. It got me thinking of how many 18 year olds who are sitting at home jobless and playing video games. They should be out making a few extra dollars for themselves, and feel good about helping someone out.
