 Hello lovelies,

I'm Leenah Maenza (@never.been.sane), a new intern with the 420 Nurse's Los Angeles Chapter. I'm a mommy of three boys and an active cannabis user; I mention this only because if there are any other cannamoms who read or come across this blog entry, then I hope to be able to come off as relatable as well as provide comfort in the fact that there are so many more of us out there. So when did I actually became interested in this magical plant? Let's dive in! My entire life I have known about and been around marijuana; due to my father being a grower/vendor. Once I was around 14 years of age, he began actually teaching me about what "weed" really was (against the advice of others) and why it was so discriminated against by other people. The thought that a simple plant that was once in the form of natural seed and soil, could be so illegal at the time...only plunged me deeper into my interests. I wanted to know more! So I ended up doing research on my own time, and found that not only was it an illegal substance, but it had a bounty of medicinal properties as well as health benefits and that it could essentially be used to help save our planet through new biodegradable products such as papers and plastics. Now, fast forwarding to me as an adult, I came across the 420 Nurses' Community and saw purpose. I had finally found a group of women and mothers who were fully embracing themselves and the way weed was making them feel. It was almost new for me to see women fully in charge and empowering others to rise and become thier own leaders; and I found comfort in the idea that I could work in the cannabis industry without feeling constantly over sexualized by my male peers and/or superiors. I've had plenty of experience working in dispensaries, and I wanted to be a part of something bigger. After joining the 420 nurses and becoming a 420Nurse Intern myself, I have already felt a sense of family and acceptance by the other lovely ladies I've met so far and I am so grateful. I thank ChaCha and Summer for creating such an establishment and allowing me to be a part of this ever-growing industry... and I thank you, the reader of this post, for taking the time to read through and learn about my experience so far with my new sisters...

 Until next time,

~ Leenah ~
