Being a leader of any type, whether it be a chapter leader, a board member, someone leading a team meeting, or maybe you feel like you're the leader of your own life....whatever type of leader you may be, I'm here to speak from experience , that it is not always the easiest job. I feel learning to communicate is #1 when it comes to being successful and being a good leader. This leads to being able to properly delegate tasks, working better with team members, and overall accomplishing goals. Speaking well is important, as a leader you may be asked to do an interview, or lead a team meeting, and knowing how to speak loudly and proudly may take some practice. Not everyone can ease up to a microphone or megaphone, and on the other hand, some can talk a good talk, but deliver nothing. When you put your mind to something, or set a goal, my tip is to stick to it! Your leadership will strengthen through being able to carry out your goals.

Being flexible is another characteristic needed to be a leader. working in a team environment, your original visions may change and not everything goes as planned. Being able to cope with the changing flow of your team will make for a successful outcome every time, even if some plans change course.

Making decisions is one of the harder parts about being a leader. The last question, or advice may be up to you, the leader, to decide and the process of making these decisions, even under pressure. The most successful leaders are great decision makers. Successful leaders have learned the mastery of anticipating business patterns, finding opportunities in pressure situations, serving the people they lead and overcoming hardships.

Many times leaders can intimidate their team members with their power, or even their title. Its important to steer clear of these intimidation techniques and focus on your TEAM. Successful leaders help others in their team have voice and feel safe to speak up.

Leading by example sounds easy, but few leaders are consistent with this one. Successful leaders practice what they preach and are mindful of their actions. Actions speak much louder than words, as a leader, if you say you will do something , do it .

It is a daily task to be a leader and definitely not for everyone.
