EXPANDING YOUR TARGET MARKET – FLIP THE SCRIPT

Up to now we have been dealing with becoming news writers, officially, and supplying our readers, medical marijuana patients and their fans, with news different from all the other cannabis reader outlets. We want to expand our readers’ minds pass just looking at our, well, yours anyway, bodies. We want to expand their minds past the 'boobs with brains' concept you get from a top shelf blunt. We want to change society and them more in the way two joints from Humboldt would do. We want them to see the world, starting with the 420Nurses NEWS staff, in a new way, a way eloquently expressed by the female author Lidia Yuknavitch. She explains her view in a story posted at Temecula Calendar titled The Hermeneutics of A Woman’s Body.

This may sound like the journey of a thousand miles but from texts of ancient writings I have come across, we are destined for this societal changing role. Still, knowing this will happen doesn’t make it happen. So how do we begin that first step? Simple. It’s called the tie-in.

So what is a tie-in? First, it is a way to expand your market share, aka web traffic, by tying into another previously unknown or untapped market of readership. Although I still walk into clinics, glass warehouses, and head shops where owners and budtenders don’t know of the group 420Nurses (I always leave a card or three), that is something for the model group to attend to. Our mission, like Michael Jackson’s Captain EO (playing in 3D at Disneyland, Anaheim) is to change the world.

Whoa PT. Suddenly that thousand-mile journey is sounding more like 24,901 miles, the circumference of the earth. How is that supposed to happen?

For 23,901 miles of the journey, Divine Intervention will plot that course. For the [coming] staff, the NEWS story ‘Mary Jane – Super Bowl Cheerleader For Patients’ illustrates Divine Intervention not just by what is written but also with the emotion expressed by the first interviewee Scott. He states “We need to get past the point where there is a negative stigma around this” and “This is no longer an outside-the-box issue…” [‘This’ means marijuana]

Here is a man who has seen first-hand someone he knows and loves helped by pot. I know the look and the emotion. I have been there and so have you. This is a person neither watching the parade nor in the parade. He is someone walking in the street beside the marchers. This is the person we want to bring into the parade with us. This is expanding your market/voice share. Watch the vid if you haven’t seen it. We need to lasso this man, and we do that through a tie-in.

Tie-ins are a simple concept and giants like Coke and Pepsi do it all the time. Look at the fine print on a product and see how many are owned by those two companies.

1 That video is on youtube and when I went to the site to get it, I left the comment about how medical studies are listed in The Emperor Wears No Clothes. My display picture is my book. The NEWS will develop a NEWS logo icon [c-tag] so when you got to a site and leave a comment, the NEWS will be left represented. Not sure if a click thru can be installed. Whoever comes after my comment will see Jack's book plug, and that’s planting the seed, which is what this is all about.

2 You can tie-in to another market by subject. The Super Bowl is a perfect example. The pot angle is the tie-in. In stories that I have posted on the Temecula Calendar website lately, I have put in links to the NEWS site and vice versa. Just hours ago I learned that a story I wrote about the TPP was picked up by the noGMO grapevine. In that story is the line ‘false smoke ring’ smoke ring is a link to the NEWS story about Obama’s pot smoking past. See the NEWS story with the orange VW bus lead-in shot.

3 Even before the c-tags are available to staff, you can still go to a pro-pot site, mag, or organization, comment, and leave a NEWS link to a story there that pertains to the comment you left. Commercial product sites, like the latest dab hootch/hut, apparatus, etc. the latest vape pin, clinic, yada yada yada – these are off limits and 420Nurse model area. Our Nurses are NOT our competitors.

An exception could be, [if the 420Nurses get photographed/publicized in it] an interview with the shop owner, product maker, etc. Want an interview, hire some 420Nurses and tell them to bring some press staff.

4 Personal contact and tag-back tie-in. After I wrote the story about Letitia Pepper, a woman I know of and have met though I couldn’t say where, for the NEWS website, I sent her an email, Subject line saying ‘You Made The News.’ Simple enough and enticing. I had plucked an image that showed what I said about her knowing Prop 19 was bogus. As soon as I saw that picture in the gallery, I knew that was ‘the money shot’. Always look for the ‘money shot’ if there is one, to lead a story. The very first Calendar story I did about the 420Nuses featured model Bob Carlee and it wasn’t her best shot by far, from what I saw afterwards. But it said visually all I needed to say and went with the story. Since it was the third picture in, then about 25-thousand something+, I knew I was into something good. I found that shot and didn’t look at number four. I had a deadline.

In the email to Letitia I identified myself, dropped some underground friends I knew we both knew, and included a link back to the NEWS story site. Right now, her story, the first ‘Mary Jane’s Warrior Women’ spotlight is number one in hits on the site. That means she passed it around. That’s the tie-in tag-back.
